Restoring the rooms was challenging, but also a labor of love. The entire Hansaviertel district has been a listed historical monument since 1997, as has the Swedish House. Vacancy and previous uses had left their mark. Step by step, we removed the later-added walls and ceilings, revealing the generous openness and clarity of the architecture and reconstructing the original 1957 color scheme with the support of a conservator and mineral paints from the Keim company. We received planning assistance from Johanna Karges. The furnishings are inspired by the surrounding architecture: the flooring is made of period-typical natural rubber by Nora, Alvar Aalto tables by Artek, Eiermann chairs by Wilde+Spieth, and porcelain lamps by Ifö, KPM Berlin, and Mawa. The café is complemented by artistic works from, among others, Galli, Jack O'Brien, Daniel Moldoveanu, Marcel Broodthaers, Gritli Faulhaber, and Catharine MacTavish. Whether in the light-filled interior or on the spacious terrace overlooking Arne Jacobsen's bungalows and the Tiergarten park – Café Tiergarten invites you to relax, meet others, or simply enjoy the moment with good coffee and honest products. A special thank you goes to everyone who supported and cheered on our Startnext campaign. Your support was essential to making the café a reality. We would particularly like to highlight Tim Rühle and Dominik Freund .
