An air raid destroys large parts of the Hansaviertel; the post-war years are marked by gaps and temporary structures.
Why we don't accept cash, but only card payments
At Café Tiergarten, we operate exclusively without cash.
This is a conscious decision that we made after careful consideration.
Firstly, it's about security: especially in the evenings, we don't want any cash on the premises. This ensures a safer working environment for our team.
On the other hand, card payments are more practical and efficient for us. Cash – especially small change – causes additional effort and costs when depositing cash. At the same time, card payments are faster and more hygienic in everyday life and simplify service processes.
Sometimes people ask whether this could exclude older people, for example. However, our experience is different: many of our older guests also pay by card as a matter of course, and it works surprisingly smoothly in everyday life.
It is important to us: We don't want to leave anyone out in the rain.
If there is absolutely no other way, we will find a pragmatic solution on a case-by-case basis.
Thank you for your understanding.
